Cheque Design

Create and test a cheque layout for each bank cheque format.

Cheque Design tells Easy Cheque Print exactly where each field must appear on a particular bank cheque. Normally you create one design for every cheque size/layout you use.

Blue sample text shows the printable fields positioned over the cheque image.

Why this feature exists

Different banks place the payee, date, amount and other fields in different positions. A saved design lets you reuse the correct positions every time you print that cheque format.

Create a new cheque design

  1. Open Cheque Design from the main menu and choose New.
  2. Enter a clear Design Name, for example “Bank Muscat” or “Bank Dhofar Small”.
  3. Enter the physical Cheque Width and Cheque Height in centimetres.
  4. Choose the Bank Name. If the bank is not available, use the green + button to add it.
  5. Choose Load Image and select a clean image of that cheque format. The image is used as your positioning guide.
  6. Move the blue sample fields until each one sits over the correct printing area: Cheque For, date, amount in words, cheque amount, fraction and A/C Payee.
  7. Set the date options when needed: Split each digit prints date digits separately; Date Separator controls the separator shown between date parts.
  8. Use Separate Fraction when the decimal/fractional amount must print in its own location.
  9. Keep Active ticked so the design is available in the Print Cheque screen.
  10. Use Test Print before saving the template. Print on a photocopy or blank sample cheque and check the alignment of every field.
  11. If any field is not aligned correctly, adjust its position and run Test Print again. Repeat until the payee/description, date, amount in words, amount, fraction and A/C Payee positions are correct.
  12. Only after the Test Print is correctly aligned, choose Save and start using the template for actual cheques.

Test Print is an essential step

Always use Test Print for every new or changed cheque design before saving it for normal use. The on-screen image is a positioning guide, but the actual printer feed and cheque paper position can change the final alignment.

  1. Place a photocopy or blank sample of the cheque in the printer.
  2. Choose Test Print.
  3. Check every printed field against the cheque boxes and lines.
  4. Adjust any field that is too high, low, left or right.
  5. Run Test Print again until all fields are correctly aligned.
  6. When the alignment is confirmed, save the design and use it for live cheque printing.

Positioning fields accurately

You can drag the blue sample fields over the cheque image for quick positioning. For more accurate alignment, right-click any field to open its context menu.

Right-click a field to set its exact position or change its font.

Set Object Location

Choose Set Object Location when you need exact positioning. A small window lets you enter the field location precisely instead of adjusting it only by dragging. Measure the required position on the physical cheque with a ruler/scale and enter the matching horizontal and vertical values. The X value controls the left-to-right position and the Y value controls the top-to-bottom position.

Format Text

Choose Format Text to change how that field prints. You can adjust the font family, font size and other available font settings so the text fits the cheque area clearly.

Common problems

Print is shifted left or right

Recheck the field position and the physical cheque feed. A printer that pulls the cheque at a different starting point can affect alignment.

Date does not match the cheque boxes

Check the Split each digit option and Date Separator, then run another Test Print.

Fraction appears in the wrong place

Enable Separate Fraction only when the cheque has a separate fractional box/location.
